Navratri are the onset of festivities in the Hindu calendar for many of us (I'd like to say most). It comes for 9 days in its full splendour, and Navratri in October-November leave a month to look forward to ahead of us, with fun, excitement and enthusiasm in the air. These 9 days also mean fasting for a lot of us, and for those of us who don't fast, it's a time where we feast upon the choicest food that's available only during this time. Restaurant Week India: Kiyan, The Roseate

The Restaurant Week India is back and I say this very happily because I wait for RWI like an eager food enthusiast those five-six months, twice a year. This is the 13th edition of RWI Delhi, and this year the three-course menus are priced at 1100++ for lunch and 1300++ for dinner. With 24 participating restaurants (see the list below) that span across five-star properties and stand-alones, they cover all the cuisines for you under this. Options for everyone, alongwith having options for healthy eaters as well this time- gluten free, vegan, low sugar and low carb. I don't think you can ask for anything more. You get a three-course meal at less than half the price you would pay for it otherwise, and the menu also has RWI Signature options that you can opt for at an additional cost.

There are three time slots you can choose: lunch, and two slots for dinner. All restaurants do not have all the three slots but most of them do. You make your booking with a reservation charge of Rs.60 per head, which is non refundable, and you pay the per head amount at the restaurant. The RWI is in six cities this time- Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata and Pune. You can make your reservations here: http://restaurantweekindia.com/

The New Menu at China Kitchen, Hyatt Regency Should Not Be Missed!

China Kitchen at Hyatt Regency, Delhi needs no introduction. The place stands tall with its impeccable Chinese fare and so does the hotel for numerous of its qualities. The restaurant has recently come out with a new menu, and Chef Jack Aw Yong, the Executive Chef at Park Hyatt Beijing, flew down specially to work on it. Interestingly, Chef Jack kickstarted China Kitchen in Delhi when it first opened years ago.

The menu has a lot of new additions to it, a new look- making it more vibrant and visually appealing (with pictures of dishes too). From the salads, dimsums, appetizers, to the mains and desserts too, there are new additions everywhere. I started off by trying Beijing style vegetable dumpling and Mushroom "Shao mai" dumpling with truffle oil. Both really flavourful, with a translucent coating on them and a filling that's juicy. The restaurant is doing a damn nice Red Chilli Coriander Shrimp Mousse, which is shrimp mashed and stuffed inside a bird's eye chilli, sliced half open. It sits on a delicious ginger soy sauce. Spicy, yes, but with a burst of flavours in the mouth. One of the star dishes for me.

Jashn-e-Fateh at Singh Sahib, Eros Hotel, Nehru Place

Singh Sahib, the Indian restaurant at Eros Hotel, Nehru Place has an incredible food festival going on, called Jashn-e-Fateh. The festival showcases food from three three states where Sardar Hari Singh Nalwa, the Commander-in-chief of the Sikh Empire, conquered and ruled. These three states are Haripur, Peshawar and Kashmir, where he served as a governor. Eros Hotel showcases a lavish buffet spread with live stations churning out delicious dishes from Sardar Hari Singh Nalwa's rule, dishes that were prepared as a part of the feast whenever the empire conquered and won a battle.

The festival is done so tastefully, the research around it is so spot-on, that diners like me are in awe while hearing stories about that era.  Food always tastes better when you know the stories behind it. Story-telling is a part of enjoying your food, is something I have always believed in, and Eros Hotel does a phenomenal job of creating that experience for me. The festival is only on till today, so make your reservations soon and head there today.

Yum Yum Cha, Cyber Hub, Gurgaon: About Sushi, Dimsums & More

Yum Yum Cha opened its second outlet in Cyber Hub, DLF Cyber City, Gurgaon some time back and it's every bit as superb as the Select Citywalk one. The same interiors, slightly bigger than the first outlet, and the same never-ending line of people outside, waiting to get it.

The menu has a few new additions, like the Japanese Pizza and the Banoffee Sushi, a few appetizers and dimsums, some fun bottles, and a couple of other dishes. I started my meal with their dimsums which are a real treat. No matter which one you order, you can expect only bangs and bangs of flavour. Their Prawn Hargao is as smacking as this dimsum can get. Chunky prawns that are the best part about it. Chicken & Chilli Oil dimsums were something I tried for the first time. The dried chilli that weren't that spicy, on a bed of chilli oil vinegar and a stuffing of chicken, made for some delicious flavourful dimsums! I can't decide if this one was my favourite or the Crystal Duck Dimsums. Slightly sweet, such soft duck, in a translucent coating- simply mind-blowing! It almost melted in the mouth. There are 5 accompanying dips at Yum Yum Cha to go with your food, and these were the perfect dips to complement my dimsums. Sweet, spicy, ginger-y, not that spicy, pungent- they have dips to suit all kinds of taste preferences.

'East meets West' at Akira Back, JW Marriott Aerocity

An 11-day long festival at Akira Back, JW Marriott Aerocity's Japanese restaurant, to celebrate the coming together of two Japanese chefs from the same background but different countries. Defining what their childhood and growing up was like, the festival named 'East Meets West' was brought about to emphasize on the cultural background of Chef Tomuyuki Kiga from Japan and Chef Corey Asato from Hawaii, USA.

A six-course menu priced at 4200++ upwards, where the diners are also given an option to choose separate dishes from this pre-fixed menu on ala carte basis. Our first course was an amuse bouche- Kigo Nori Cracker. On a dried crisp sheet of nori, with spicy hamachi and dehydrated chilli. Hamachi is a type of fish, and this amuse bouche came on a very pretty looking platter, totlly setting up our expectations for what was coming next.
